First off, I want to say how much I love Hockey Legacy Manager 26 I’ve been a massive fan and have supported the game since the very beginning. You guys do incredible work.
I have a feature request regarding the regular season simulation and coaching logic. Right now, during the preseason, the head coach actively decides which players make the cut and sets the lines perfectly. However, as soon as the regular season starts, that dynamic logic seems to stop.
The Issue
If I simulate a 30 or 40-game stretch and no one gets injured, the lineup remains entirely stagnant. The exact same players stay on the exact same lines every single game. This causes a few major realism issues:
-
No Progression or Form Adjustments: Players who are on massive hot streaks or whose attributes drastically improve don’t get moved up the lineup.
-
Scratches Never Play: The 13th and 14th forwards, as well as the 7th defenseman, will sit in the press box and never touch the ice for months at a time unless an injury occurs.
-
Coaching Attributes Don’t Seem to Matter: Coaches have great individual ratings and tendencies—like Offense, Defense, Balanced, or Youth vs. Veteran preferences. Yet, no matter who I hire, the actual line management behaves exactly the same way during the season.
The Request
I would love to see the coach play a much more pivotal, active role in deciding who plays and how much ice time they get past the preseason.
As a GM, I want to focus on constructing the roster, deciding who is on the active team, and letting the coach actually handle the day-to-day lineup adjustments based on performance, development, and their own personal coaching style.
Would love to hear if others feel the same way, and hopefully, this is something that can be tweaked in a future update! Thanks for listening.
